Open Day and Launch of the Boatbuilding Academy

The Cape Town Boatbuilding and Technology Initiative (CTBi) is a Section 21 (non-profit) entity funded by the City of Cape Town local government and Western Cape Provincial Government Directorates of Economic & Tourism Development.

 

 

The CTBi has been instrumental in revising the first South African boat building qualification first registered in 2006.  With three years of course delivery under our belts, we have made significant changes to the qualification to align it with international standards and ensure a balance between the theoretical and practical components of the course.  The all new and streamlined qualification will be approved by the South African Qualifications Authority soon.



Transnet’s recognized unions, Satawu and Utatu, have indicated their intention to strike via the media - starting next week 10 May 2010. They are awaiting proper and official communication on this matter from the unions this week. This has very serious implications for Cape Town's work force. Read on to find out more...
